Contracting
| Contracting
for energy efficiency services and retrofit projects can range from simple
to complex depending on the scope and cost of the project. Most educational
institutions that will be spenlding more than $100,000 on a single contract
will most likely have to send out a request for proposal (RFP) to prospective
proposers. Some states provide information on how toaccomplish this
process. |
| Performance Contracting -
A contract wherein the cost of the conrratt is related to how well the
completed project reduces future operating costs. The contractor's
fee might be fixed or based on a percentage of the overall financial perfomance. |
| Guaranteed Energy Savings Performance
Contracting - A contract where the cost of the project is guaranteed
by a certified Energy Services contractor (ESCO) to be equal or less than
the amount of savings generated. |
| IPMVP - International Performance
Measurement and Verification Protocol. This is the industry standard
approach for measuring and verifying savings performance of energy conservation
measures installed by an ESCO. For more details go to www.IPMVP.org. |
